Plantar Fasciitis Morning Tips To Start Your Day

Plantar fasciitis is not a life-threatening condition, but it can be life-changing. Plantar fasciitis can limit the types of shoes you're able to wear comfortably, and even how much you're able to walk throughout the day, without experiencing pain. There are things you can do in the morning to set your day on the right course. Learn some of the steps you should take in the morning to keep plantar fasciitis from ruining your day.

Purchase a Roller

A roller is an excellent tool for plantar fasciitis. A roller can release tension around the fascia, which is often a substantial reason for the pain you are experiencing. When using a roller, there is often an urge to press firmly on the foot.

The idea is that the harder you press, the more pressure that you can release. In theory, the idea makes sense, but if you press too firmly, you may only cause yourself more pain. Gentle pressure is enough to be effective. Keep the roller on your nightstand so that you can grab it right away when you wake up in the morning. 

Put on House Shoes

Make sure you have a pair of comfortable house shoes right next to your bed. While you can walk barefoot when you have plantar fasciitis, you do want to limit how often you walk without shoes. When you walk barefoot, your muscles function differently from when you walk in shoes. 

If your muscles are already weak due to the plantar fasciitis, you could end up causing yourself even more pain. If you don't want to wear your regular shoes in the house, house shoes can be just as helpful. If you have hard floors in your home, wearing the house shoes is especially beneficial. 

Stretch for a Moment

You should also consider stretching for a few moments before you start walking. Before you exercise, you generally stretch as a way to wake your body up. When you stretch your feet before your walk, a similar waking up process will occur. 

If you hit the ground running in the morning and remain on-the-go from the moment you step out the bed, a stretch before you start your day is an excellent idea. If the stretching is painful, don't perform it. The goal is to make your foot feel better, not worse.
